The Typeface

Sama means ‘natural ambience’ in Hindi and is a suitable name for the new mono linear typeface recently released by Ektype.  The studio describes Sama thus:

Sama is an unassuming mono linear typeface with rounded terminals. But, with genial curves that gently billow its forms, Sama breathes new life into a sedate and saturated genre. Despite its closed counters, such subtle gestures in lighter styles lend each page a certain weightlessness; as Sama balloons in weight, these features bounce around with a youthful verve. No matter the language, Sama is an amiable space to house your message.

The Family

Sama is available in six weights across Latin, Devanagari, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Tamil and Gurmukhi

It is suitable for a wide variety of applications including print, signage and digital interfaces. Sama is available for licensing from the Ektype site.
